Year 1- Art

In Art this half term, Year 1 have been exploring a range of exciting printing techniques. We have experimented with monoprinting, using objects with flat surfaces to create unique patterns and textures, as well as body printing, using our hands, feet and fingers to make colourful prints. We also enjoyed string printing, where we used ink and string to create interesting designs, and symmetry printing, folding our paper to reveal beautiful mirrored patterns. Throughout the unit, the children have developed their creativity, explored different ways of making marks and prints, and discovered how everyday objects and materials can be used to create fantastic works of art.

What The Student Says

Child A: "I liked using my hands and fingers to make different prints because it was fun and messy!"

Child B: "My favourite was string printing because I didn't know what the pattern would look like until I lifted the string."

Child C: "I learned that symmetry means both sides are the same. I loved folding the paper to see the surprise pattern."

Child D: "I used lots of different objects to make prints and they all made different shapes and textures."
