Year 1- Science- Our Senses
In Year 1 Science, we have been learning all about our five senses and how they help us understand the world around us. We began by revisiting the different parts of the body and talking about what each one is used for, helping us link body parts to the senses they belong to. After this, we headed outside for a senses walk, where we focused carefully on what we could see, hear, and feel in our environment. Back in the classroom, we took part in an exciting carousel of activities designed to put each sense to the test. We went on a listening walk, explored a variety of different smells, and felt a range of materials, describing their textures in detail. One of our favourite tasks was using our senses to sort sweets into different categories—especially when we used our sense of taste!
To finish our learning, we enjoyed a fantastic trip to Eureka, where we explored our five senses through hands-on, interactive exhibits. The highlight of the day was watching a special senses show, which helped us understand even more about how our senses work together. It has been a fun and fascinating topic for everyone in Year 1!
