Year 3 – Geography
This half term in geography, Year 3 pupils have been learning about climate zones around the world. We explored what a climate zone is and discovered that different parts of the world experience different weather patterns. The children learned about hot, cold and temperate climates, including tropical, polar, and desert zones, and compared these with the climate in the UK. They also explored how climate affects plants, animals, and the way people live. Through maps, discussions, and a range of activities, pupils developed key skills such as reading and interpreting maps, comparing information, using data, and communicating ideas clearly, while building confidence in using new geographical vocabulary. The children particularly enjoyed using our new skills wheels to identify the key skills they were learning throughout the unit.
